Swimming with Otters
We are very happy to announce the completion of our new Encounter Barn. We're thrilled to bring Swimming with Otters to the Gateway to Hocking Hills!
As the Ohio facility that pioneered hands-on interaction with Asian Small-Clawed otters, as well as introduced Painting with Otters to the country, we're so excited to be able to bring this educational encounter to you!
During this hour and half encounter you will be up close and personal with some of the sweetest otters you could meet, and you get to do it while swimming in a heated pool! Bask under our indoor waterfall as the otters swim around you, listen to them chirp as they play, and immerse yourself in a truly unique experience.
This Encounter takes place in our new barn and is 100% indoors. You will learn about current conservation efforts, threats to otters and their habitats, extinct species, as well as what YOU can do to be part of a positive solution! Instructions on the do's and don'ts before joining the otters will be given before you join the otters in their enclosure. There is a changing room for your convenience inside the building as well.
There's a few things you'll need to bring and be aware of:
- Towel
- Sandals or similar footwear
- Don't wear excess makeup, deodorant, perfume/cologne, or other heavy cosmetic products
- A desire to have an amazing time while swimming with otters!
As with all encounters, you will be able to tour the farm and meet with our dozens and dozens of different animals, all included with the purchase of your ticket!
As with each encounter, we book according to the number of people in our barn. Spectators in the room will be required to purchase an encounter as well. This isn't negotiable.
